Again, the rain was the protagonist on the second day of practice for the European Grand Prix at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit.
After a good first day, today Sito Pons's pupils confirmed their good feelings. An inconsequential last free practice anticipated a qualifying in really delicate track conditions, being practically dry but in some areas still with the presence of water.
Both Baldassarri and Garzó were aware that they had to take risks in the search for the fastest lap and as time went on the track improved. Both were very skilled and set competitive times, placing themselves on the third row of the grid for tomorrow's race. Baldassarri, with a better chronometer of 1:40.610 will start eighth and, next to him, Garzó, ninth, with a time of 1:40.968.
The FlexBox HP 40, ready for a good race tomorrow.
Lorenzo Baldassarri, 8th, 1:40.610 (+1.674)
"This morning we had some difficult track conditions, and I knew we could find ourselves in a similar situation in qualifying and that was the case. The track was practically dry except for the first corner and T4 and we played it. I'm happy with the eighth position and at the end I couldn't push any more, but it's a good place to start the race."
Héctor Garzó, 9th, 1:40.968 (+2.032)
"In the morning we preferred not to ride and wait for the weather to go the rest of the day. In qualifying there were no doubts: we mounted the slick and had to be gambled. We have given our best, taking a lot of risks and we have a good position to have a good race tomorrow."
